OscarsWelcome to Oscars Cafe......where those in the know go!!!We are a small diner located in the Town Plaza in Durango, Colorado. We are open EVERYDAY from 6:00 am - 3:00 pm (Sundays 2:00 pm) for Breakfast and Lunch. We specialize in homemade, quality food in a fun environment. We are proud to be nominated and voted "Best Breakfast" in Durango in 2010!!! Our portions are BIG so you'll never leave hungry; but our restaurant is a small hole in the wall with a lot of character!! If our seats are all full at this popular spot, it won't take long....we are known for our fast, excellent service! Come enjoy our 50's diner theme with a small scale Durango and Silverton Train running around our ceiling making this a popular destination among kids! We make our own homemade soups, chilies and desserts! Don't forget our enormous homemade cinnamon rolls!!! Come join us!!! They just had the honor of celebrating their 30 year anniversary in the same location. Oscars has evolved into an institution among Durango locals and travelers. Bruce has a love of trains and was the "idea man" behind installing the train that goes around the ceiling. Though Paula was against the idea at first, it has been one of the iconic emblems of Oscars. Oscars is known for the collection of "Snowdown" posters; one of Paula's great passions. During this Winter festival you can be sure that the entire restaurant is decked out in themed decor to celebrate Snowdown. They believe in cooking wholesome, REAL food so many of the recipes are made from scratch in house. You will likely see one of them at the Restaurant at all times; they take great pride in their business.Bruce and Paula have two daughters, Heidi and Christy. Heidi lives in Florida pursuing her business and passion as an equestrian trainer. Christy went to college at Oregon State University in Corvallis and earned her Masters Degree in Education. She moved back to Durango and now helps run the restaurant. Oscars was recently nominated and won the "Best Breakfast" in Durango. In 2008 the Snowdown committee awarded Oscars with the "Snowdown Spirit Award" for our decorating in theme for the festival. Each year we decorate, dress up and think of fun thememd recipes reflecting the theme of Snowdown. Oscars is known for having almost all of the posters hanging up on our walls; you can find 31 of the 33 years of posters hanging on our walls!
